FAQ

How can we help?

Below you will find a selection of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) which we often get asked.

Stroma Certification is a Competent Persons Scheme, which we are members of, and is comparable to NIC-EIC, NAPIT or ELECSA.

It ensures our electricians are assessed on a regular basis to ensure high standards. Our work is checked against the IET Wiring Regulations BS 7671 as well as other standards.

The assessments we undergo are rigorous, covering a sample of our work, premises, documentation, equipment, and competence of our staff.

Chilli Home Automation is our separate name we use for Smart Home, Home Cinema, Wifi Installation and similar projects.

The demand for these systems is increasing and it is easier for us to separate these services from our general electrical services.

When we first started our company, we wanted a name that was immediately recognisable and very memorable. We saw a home maintenance company that had a food inspired name, and suddenly we had that lightbulb moment – Chilli Electrical.

Yes, our electricians have been trained to City and Guilds Level 3 in Electrical Installations, 18th Edition Wiring Regulations and more.

Yes, we carry public and employers liability insurance and professional indemnity insurance.
All our work carries a one-year warranty on defective parts and workmanship.

Our electricians carry a lot of electrical parts. Such as fuses, spare lights, switches, wire, cables and sockets.

However, with the diversity of electrical systems it is just not possible to carry every part that you might come across. In this instance we will order the required parts.

A rewire is the most disruptive and invasive work that a property can undergo.

Every room will need to have the following carried out:

  • Furniture to be moved out
  • Floor covering to be taken up
  • Some floor boards to be lifted to gain access to the floor voids
  • Walls to be chased out for switches/sockets where necessary
  • Dust and mess during the period of the work (although we always clean up)

In addition, to rewire the lighting upstairs, this requires the loft to be cleared to gain access to the lighting points and to each switch drop.

We are experienced at making the rewire as hassle and mess free as is possible.

You should contact a fully qualified electrician, such as an Chilli Electrical who will be happy to reassure you and visit your premises if needs be.

We strongly recommend that all electrical work is designed, installed maintained and tested by a suitably qualified electrician.

Most commonly we prefer our clients to use Online Bank Transfers. We also accept Cheque and PayPal payments.
